Divya is a Quality Auditor/Director and started running about 5 years ago with a 10k event, to begin with. In about 3 and a half years of time from then, she had run a distance of 100K. The journey from then for her till now includes about 10 Ultra events, plenty of Half and Full Marathons. Divya’s favourite has been the Khardung La Challenge in Leh (Sept 2017) which is a 72K run at an altitude of 17,500 ft. and she had a unique experience running the Comrades Marathon (Up run) in 2017. She travels often and enjoys running in trails.

With loads of enthusiasm Divya says,

“I personally like to be a part of quieter and smaller events and always look forward to trying new routes, new challenges and new organizers. It was after about two years of running at different places that I found that running in the hills and on scenic routes brings a different kind of peace. Saying that since then the events I’ve done have been in Ooty, Munnar, Manipur, Leh, Manali (Sky running – is the toughest so far), Shimla in India and many in California which include Big Sur”.

Other than running, Divya enjoys step aerobics workout and goes to the gym for strength training. California and Toronto have been her home for a few years and she has many fond memories of hiking a lot of trails in these areas. Peru (Machu Picchu) in 2009 was one of her favourite trekking experiences and she often travels with her husband on such interesting trips.

Divya considers Ooty as a special place since it reminds her of her hometown. She is from the Hills of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. Divya is preparing for the Everest Marathon happening this year and she feels the OOTYULTRA event has come at the right time and offering the right elevation and challenges to support her training.

She limits her running mileage to a 60K/week. Divya is extremely consistent and follows a disciplined training routine and feels that one of the reasons for her success during the last 5 years.

Divya has the ambition to do a 100 miler event before she would turn 50, which is a year from now!

Wishing you advanced wishes for your Everest Marathon and a successful 100 miler Divya
