Meet the well-known Ultrarunning couple Suma Sampath and her husband Sampath Iyengar from Bangalore, who will be running the OOTYULTRA on the 29-Apr-2018.
A corporate trainer and an executive coach by profession, Sampath’s job involves regular travelling, long hours of standing and giving classes. In spite of this, he religiously commits 10-12 hours of weekly fitness regime which includes running, strengthening, and Yoga since 2011.
Suma is a recently retired computer science professional with 26 years of corporate experience. She also puts in an equal amount of time for her fitness activities every single week. Suma has been running since 2013 and the couple together trains in a running club in Lalbagh, Bangalore under the guidance of an expert coach.
Their running journey has taken them through several half and full marathons over the last few years. In February 2018, they both attempted their first Ultramarathon at Yercaud and since then they are focused on longer and endurance events which fit their running style and interests. On their wish list is the Athens Marathon which replicates the original Marathon run from 490 BC!
Both of them are very particular about their diet and hydration. They stick to natural and/or homemade meals while trying to avoid processed food items.
The couple finds their personalities complementing each other’ when it comes to training and running events. They do enjoy running in routes that provide natural sceneries and beauty to enjoy and look forward to events that provide a safe running experience for the participants, hence chose to run the OOTYULTRA.
We would like to wish this inspiring couple all the best at the Ooty Ultra and in their future running endeavours.
